Marketing Operations Manager

ABOUT PLEO Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike - with a vision to help all businesses ‘go beyond’. The word ‘Pleo’ actually means ‘more than you’d expect’, and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years. Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Marketing Operations Manager to join our Marketing Operations, RevOps team at Pleo. In this role, you'll help build the operational infrastructure needed to support our upmarket expansion into Mid-Market and Enterprise segments and be part of our Marketing Ops team as we scale our spend management platform across growth companies in Europe. If you're excited about designing account-based go-to-market systems, establishing AI enablement across operational workflows, and solving complex cross-functional challenges, and are passionate about marketing operations, RevOps, and systems architecture, then this is the opportunity for you! WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH AND REPORTING TO You’ll report to our Associate Director, Marketing Operations and work closely with teams in Marketing Operations, RevOps, and Sales Ops. Our team is highly collaborative and dedicated to powering how the marketing team runs—from campaign operations and reporting cadence through to AI adoption and process improvement. You’ll also have the chance to partner with teams across Data, BAT (Business Automation & Tools), CX Ops, and Engineering to ensure success and maintain a single account truth across systems. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING As a Marketing Operations Manager, you will: • Build and refine marketing operational frameworks – Lead initiatives to continuously improve campaign workflows, request intake, approval processes, team governance, MQLMQA routing logic, and SDR/BDR handoff processes. • Own account intelligence and reporting cadence – Design account scoring models for Mid-Market and Enterprise, maintain executive dashboards, integrate intent/firmographic/behavioral signals into segmentation, and manage account assignment logic. • Drive AI adoption across Marketing Ops – Translate AI capabilities into operational reality by building processes, governance, and enablement that accelerate execution and scale output within the team. • Ensure tooling health and systems ownership – Manage HubSpot workflows, automations, and integrations while coordinating with BAT and Engineering on tech stack builds, QA standards, and enterprise tooling requirements. • Enable team capabilities and documentation habits – Upskill Marketing and Marketing Ops teammates through shared standards, QA checklists, repeatable guides, templates, and onboarding resources to raise the operational floor. WHAT YOU BRING You’ll thrive in this role if you have: • HubSpot Fluency – A solid understanding of designing workflows, routing logic, and automation in HubSpot, including its limitations and when to extend outside the platform. • Account Operations Mindset – Track record of building ABM operational processes, MQL-to-MQA scoring rules, multi-stakeholder buying committee motions, and AI/automation adoption that sticks. • Sales Ops Partnership – Ability to collaborate seamlessly with Sales Ops on account strategy, territory strategy, handoff logic, and rep productivity without jargon. • Data & Documentation Habits – Excellent habits in building auditable specs, validating data quality, and diagnosing root causes in data flows alongside Data and BAT teams. • Experience with multi-touch attribution modeling, lifecycle marketing operations (nurture flows, recycling, engagement scoring), and ABM platforms / account intelligence tools. • A background in seeing a company move upmarket to Mid-Market/Enterprise and building scalable, long-term GTM operations. WHY IS THIS ROLE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU This role is a good fit for you if: • You are an operational thinker who naturally designs sustainable systems, governance, and frameworks rather than executing quick-fix tasks. • You love working cross-functionally across Marketing, Sales Ops, and Data teams …

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be: • Complete central onboarding by pairing with a team member for ~2 weeks to learn our patterns and tooling, then start managing the brands assigned to you. • Lead the onboarding of at least one brand to our “paved road” standards (GitHub org, CI/CD, monitoring/observability, IaC), with positive feedback from brand leadership and our team. • Deliver one or more migrations/refactors (e.g., CI/CD, infra modernization, cost/availability improvements) and document decisions so others can build on them. Your responsibilities • Lead infrastructure projects for assigned brands: migrations, performance & reliability improvements, incident response practices, containerization, and cloud cost optimizations. • Establish/upgrade CI/CD, infra as code, monitoring, alerting, and SLO-aligned dashboards; baseline and improve reliability with data. • Advise brand CTOs/engineering leads on trade-offs and architecture; justify decisions with clear reasoning and measurable outcomes. • Contribute to and consume central services (e.g., observability, backups) so brands don’t reinvent the wheel. • Collaborate with developers as part of the product team during engagements; troubleshoot across app and infra boundaries. • Bring AI into the paved road itself: use tools like Claude Code or Codex daily to speed up IaC, scripting, and incident diagnosis, and help brand teams pick up the same habits in their own workflows. • Participate in an on-call rotation (lightweight today; scaling toward a fair, shared model). What You bring to the table • 5+ years of experience in Platform or Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles, operating at a senior level with strong ownership and autonomy. • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform). • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and best practices; able to assess, design, and modernize pipelines across diverse brand environments. • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, ELK, Prometheus, or similar) and sound judgment on what “good” looks like. • Hands-on, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) in real infra work, not just curiosity about them; comfortable coaching brand teams on how to use them well. • A background in software development or the ability to read and debug application code. • Excellent communication and consulting skills; confident in advising and influencing technical stakeholders while adapting to different teams and tech stacks. What’s in it for You • Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like. • Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way — with plenty of help from the team when you need it. • Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable. • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around. • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally. • Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when …

This role is part of our ScraperAPI team, one of our growing brands at saas.group . ScraperAPI is an enterprise-scale web scraping solution, trusted by businesses across a wide range of industries to extract crucial data at scale. From e-commerce, travel to real estate and market research, we support companies in turning the web into actionable insights. We're currently on an exciting growth journey, scaling rapidly as demand for reliable, high-performance web scraping and data keeps rising. Profile Overview This is the hard end of web scraping. The sites we rely on, Google, Amazon, Walmart and many others, actively work to block us, and they change the rules without warning. We're looking for a senior engineer who can go deep on why we're being blocked, work out how the detection actually functions, and design repeatable ways around it. You'll be joining a self-driven, high-autonomy team to take on our most involved problems, with the room and the trust to build something from close to a blank page: an environment that turns one-off breakthroughs into a methodical, repeatable way of defeating anti-bot systems. If you like confronting problems that genuinely resist you, and you work methodically rather than by trial and error, this is an unusually open brief. Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be: • Getting a full local environment running and becoming fluent in our systems and how they operate, in the first few weeks. • Contributing to a proposal on the design for a repeatable environment we can pose anti-bot problems to and get reliable analysis out of. • Building that environment out over the following months so that, by month six, we can point it at a target or provider and have it reliably tell us how we're being blocked and what is and isn't being used against us. Your responsibilities • Analyse how specific anti-bot and bot-mitigation systems (the likes of DataDome, Cloudflare Turnstile, Kasada, PerimeterX and Akamai) detect and block us, and design systems to work around them. • Turn isolated breakthroughs into durable, repeatable processes: hypothesis, test, discard what's wrong, move on. • In collaboration with other senior team members, design and build a greenfield agentic environment that can propose and run tests on anti-bot behaviour and bypass approaches, and do it in a way that's well understood and repeatable. • Work largely independently on deep, concentrated problems, while actively pulling in knowledge from across the wider engineering team. • Communicate clearly what you plan to do, and step into major incidents when the team needs your depth. What you bring to the table • Deep, genuine understanding of how the internet works underneath: HTTP, TLS and fingerprinting, proxies, headers, cookies, and browser behaviour. This is the core of the role and it isn't something we can shortcut. • Excellent problem-solving built on a scientific, methodical approach: you form a hypothesis, design a test, read the result honestly, and iterate. Trying things at random is the opposite of what this role needs. • Strong hands-on skills in our stack, Node.js and TypeScript with solid Python, and comfort across backend systems at scale (Postgres, Redis/Valkey, MongoDB, Puppeteer/Camoufox, Kubernetes). • Real skill at directing AI coding agents with precision, and the judgement to tell strong output from weak. The specific tool doesn't matter (Claude, Codex or similar); knowing how to steer it well is what counts. • A background that has given you this kind of depth and rigour. That might be scraping, anti-bot or web-security work, reverse engineering, or a research or academic path where you built your own tooling and lived by the scientific method. Direct scraping experience is a strong plus rather than a strict requirement. • Independence and strong communication: you're comfortable owning hard problems in a remote-first team with little hand-holding, and you keep the team in the loop on your thinking as you go. What's in it for you • Ultimate flexibility: We're 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like. • Freedom and autonomy: We're a high-trust team, and you'll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way, with plenty of help from the team when you need it. • Minimum bureaucracy: We don't like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable. • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around. • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally. • Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.
