PRODUCT ENGINEERING AT POLAR Product engineering at Polar is about shaping and building the finance layer for the next generation of AI products. We’re rethinking how billing works for a world of usage-based software, programmable pricing and AI agents – from real-time metering and pricing as code, to more flexible customer identities, giving developers greater control over how they monetize their products. We’re interested in engineers who enjoy working across our entire stack, solving complex technical challenges while shaping how developers interact with and experience Polar. We value engineers who think beyond implementation, challenge assumptions and bring the technical depth and product judgement to make sophisticated systems feel simple. We operate as a small, remote-first team with a strong bias towards shipping. We value engineers who can work independently, collaborate when it matters and maintain a high bar for quality without sacrificing speed. More about Polar and how we work https://polar.sh/company WHAT YOU COULD WORK ON Depending on your experience and where you can have the greatest impact, this could include: • Own product development end-to-end: Identifying opportunities, shipping and iterating on features across our stack – taking responsibility for both the technical implementation and the product outcome. • Build exceptional developer experiences: Bringing a strong eye for design, usability and detail to everything you ship. Turning complex billing and monetization workflows into intuitive interfaces, powerful APIs and thoughtful abstractions that make our merchants’ lives easier. • Ship with speed and quality: Delivering improvements continuously, balancing fast iterations with robust engineering, performance and attention to detail. • Stay close to our users: Engaging with our merchants, to understand how they use Polar, uncover pain points and translate feedback into meaningful product improvements. WHAT WE LOOK FOR We’re particularly interested in senior engineers who combine strong technical foundations with exceptional product judgement and design sensibility. People who care deeply about developer experience, have opinions about what makes great software and know that building the right thing often means knowing what not to build. Some of the qualities and experience we value in this area include: • Strong technical foundations: Experience building, shipping and evolving production software, with deep expertise in at least one part of the stack and the ability to work confidently across frontend and backend systems. You’ve built and maintained products long enough to understand how early technical and product decisions hold up as they evolve and scale. • Product judgement & design sensibility: A deep appreciation for how products look, feel and work. An understanding that developer experience is the product, from the clarity of an API to the smallest details of an interface. Strong opinions, loosely held, and the judgement to challenge assumptions, simplify complexity and know what to leave out. • Ownership & pragmatic execution: The ability to take problems end-to-end with high ownership and autonomy, navigate ambiguity, make decisions without perfect information and take responsibility for outcomes. A bias towards shipping and knowing when to iterate quickly and when to invest in stronger foundations. • Engineering craft: A commitment to the quality of what gets built – from clean APIs and robust backend logic to thoughtful interactions, edge-case handling and performance. High standards for both technical quality and the experience delivered. • Curiosity & collaboration: A willingness to wear multiple hats, collaborate openly and contribute to a small team. Curiosity to learn new technologies and use tools, including AI-assisted development, while maintaining intimacy with the code, sound engineering judgement and ownership of what gets shipped. Experience with payments, billing or developer tools is a strong plus. We also love seeing open-source contributions and side projects. OUR STACK • Frontend: Typescript (React, Effect) • Backend: Python (FastAPI, Dramatiq) • Infrastructure: Postgres, Clickhouse, AWS.

Platform Engineering

À distance ✓EN
P

PLATFORM ENGINEERING AT POLAR Platform engineering at Polar is about building and evolving the systems that power our product – keeping them fast, resilient and simple as we scale. We’re rethinking how billing works for a world of usage-based software, programmable pricing and AI agents – from real-time metering and pricing as code, to more flexible customer identities, giving developers greater control over how they monetize their products. Polar sits in the critical path of global payments, billing and financial workflows. Reliability and correctness matter deeply, but so does our ability to move quickly. We’re looking for engineers who enjoy working across infrastructure, backend systems and the application layer – from improving foundational systems and shipping new platform primitives to building the tooling and automation that enable the entire engineering team to move faster. We don’t believe in building infrastructure for infrastructure’s sake. We value a pragmatic mindset and sensibility in knowing when to introduce new abstractions and when the simplest solution is the right one. More about Polar and how we work https://polar.sh/company WHAT YOU COULD WORK ON Depending on your experience and where you can have the greatest impact, this could include: • Keep Polar reliable at scale: Designing and evolving systems that remain highly available, performant and resilient as traffic and complexity grow – identifying bottlenecks, improving critical paths and designing for graceful failure. • Evolve our infrastructure: Improving our cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code and environments – introducing complexity only where it earns its place. • Make production safe and easy to operate: Improving observability, debugging, deployments and incident response so engineers can ship confidently, understand what’s happening in production and recover quickly when things go wrong. • Build leverage for engineering: Creating primitives, abstractions and automation that remove operational toil and help the broader engineering team move faster. • Engineer for financial correctness: Translating financial and regulatory requirements into robust technical systems, with auditability, access control and data integrity built in from the outset. WHAT WE LOOK FOR We’re particularly interested in senior engineers who combine deep systems thinking with exceptional product judgement. People who enjoy solving complex technical problems, take ownership beyond their immediate area and care about building systems that are both robust and easy to work with. Some of the qualities and experience we value in this area include: • Strong technical foundations: Backend and systems engineering experience, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and operating production systems at scale. This means that you have built and operated such systems over time to see and understand the pitfalls of the initial decisions • SQL and data modelling depth: Strong experience with relational databases, data modelling, query optimization and designing for data integrity and performance. • Pragmatic engineering judgement: The ability to reason through complex technical trade-offs, anticipate failure modes and choose solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term maintainability. You’re comfortable moving across infrastructure, backend and application layers to solve the problems that matter. • Product-minded: An understanding of how engineering decisions affect the product, with the judgement to balance speed, simplicity and robustness. • End-to-end owner: A willingness to take responsibility for outcomes, from understanding the problem and designing a solution to shipping, operating and improving it. • Multiplier: An interest in building abstractions, tooling and automation that make the whole engineering team faster and more effective. • Security-minded: Treating security, access control and auditability as fundamental engineering considerations rather than afterthoughts. Experience with payments, billing or financial infrastructure is a strong plus. We also love seeing open-source contributions and side projects. OUR STACK • Frontend: Typescript (React, Effect) • Backend: Python (FastAPI, Dramatiq) • Infrastructure: Postgres, Clickhouse, AWS.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer

À distance ✓EN
S

We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to build and run Somnia's key backend services: the L1 and node fleet, RPC and indexing layers, product backends, and developer-facing services teams depend on. An SRE-minded role: you make reliability measurable, rollouts safe, and infrastructure repeatable, so every team can move fast without breaking things. You treat infrastructure as a product: automate relentlessly, measure everything, and leverage AI to accelerate development, operations, and incident response. Key Responsibilities: Define and maintain SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets, plus the observability—metrics, logs, traces and alerts—that catches regressions before users do. Build repeatable, self-service infrastructure through infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and golden paths so teams can provision, deploy and recover without reinventing the wheel. Own rollouts end-to-end—progressive delivery, canaries, safe migrations and clean rollbacks. Operate the systems behind Somnia's nodes, validators, RPC and indexing, tuning for performance and cost across regions. Lead incident response and on-call, run blameless postmortems, and continuously harden the platform. Partner with product and protocol teams to design and operate production-ready services. You'll rotate between embedding with engineering teams and building the shared platform, tooling and operational standards that underpin the wider organisation. Requirements: Must Have • Strong experience operating production infrastructure at scale (cloud and/or bare metal), with deep Linux fundamentals. • Experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or Pulumi, alongside configuration management. • Experience running containers and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) in production. • Strong programming skills, ideally in Go and/or TypeScript, for building automation and internal tooling. • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or equivalents). • Experience operating and monitoring distributed systems, including capacity planning and performance tuning. • Comfortable operating in high-stakes production environments and responding to incidents. • Genuine interest in crypto and on-chain systems. Nice to Have • Experience operating blockchain node infrastructure (validators, RPC, archive nodes) for an L1/L2. • Experience with high-performance networking, low-latency systems or load balancing at scale. • Multi-region and geo-distributed deployments with failover strategies. • Security and key management (HSMs, secrets management, hardening). • EVM tooling and the wider Web3 infrastructure ecosystem. What Success Looks Like • Engineers can deploy safely and frequently with confidence. • Platform reliability is measurable, with well-defined SLOs and continuously improving service health. • Infrastructure is automated, repeatable and increasingly self-service. • Incidents become less frequent, easier to diagnose and faster to resolve. • Product teams spend more time shipping features and less time managing infrastructure. Why Join Somnia? Design The Future: Join Somnia to work remotely with a global team, earn competitive compensation with token incentives, and help build the future of Web3 at a company where your impact truly matters. First of its Kind: Make Somnia famous as the only hyperspeed L1 with native AI inference. High Stakes: Influence a brand targeting a $1M+ launch budget in the 2026 peak-fragility market. Incentives: Competitive salary + tokens. Role Location The role is remote, but we are looking for someone based in Europe or Asia (preferably).

WHO YOU ARE: • Experienced with product taxonomy/classification in e-commerce or marketplace environments • A strong data modeler and structured thinker, comfortable defining schemas rather than just filling them in • Proficient in SQL and spreadsheet/BI tools (Looker or equivalent) for auditing Catalogue quality at scale • Familiar with SEO and search/filter mechanics as they relate to attributes and category structure • Experienced with (or has an aptitude for) automation/scripting to run taxonomy audits and bulk changes • A strong cross-functional communicator who can drive alignment without direct authority over sellers or other teams; Location & eligibility: This role is open to candidates based in Europe (including UK) only with a valid right to work. WHAT YOU'LL DO: • Own the global category tree structure: product/instance relationships, subcategories, and category dependencies across markets — and run periodic taxonomy audits • Design the attribute schema for each category: (allowed values, mandatory vs. optional, units) and own attribute governance and naming conventions • Lead deduplication and normalization initiatives across: the catalog, and define/monitor data-quality KPIs for the taxonomy • Lead taxonomy design for new category and market expansion: benchmarking against industry standards, and strong vertical players • Detail-oriented but able to zoom out to system-level: ("does this scale") thinking • Own and maintain: the Category Tree SOP, Filter SOP, and Attribute Governance documentation • Act as the taxonomy point of contact for: Category Management, Selection Squad, Catalyst Squad, Compliance, Marketing, and Customer Service WHY YOU WILL ENJOY WORKING WITH US: Our Culture and Values: • Decisions should be made based on facts and not by hierarchy levels? We sure think so! • We embrace giving and receiving feedback, testing and welcoming new ideas, as well as sharing our knowledge across the company. • You fail sometimes? Well, so do we! We’re all just human, let’s learn from our mistakes to improve in the future! • No matter who you love, where you’re from, who you pray to, whether you pee sitting down or standing up – we are a bunch of talented people who enjoy spending our time making a difference! Personal & Professional Development: • You'll have access to a dedicated learning budget within your department to support your growth, whether it's courses, conferences, or other learning opportunities that matter to you. • We partner with Likeminded, offering you private sessions with experts for your personal growth and mental health. • We frequently host internal workshops, allowing our teams to further develop their skills in different areas and enhancing collaboration across departments. Flexibility: • We care about a healthy work/life balance. We not only function and support a fully remote setting but also offer the possibility to work from our beautiful office in the vibrant heart of Vienna – we love dogs, so feel free to bring your furry little buddy too • We trust you to do the best job, so we don't care so much when you do it – you are able to self-organize. • You will also be invited to take part in our office weeks, happening three times a year, where you will have the chance to work side by side with your colleagues and enjoy the team-building events and on-site workshops …and much more! See https://careers.refurbed.com/ for further insights!
