Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Remote ✓
S

STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER, BACKEND ABOUT STREAM Stream powers real-time Chat https://getstream.io/chat/, Video https://getstream.io/video/, Activity Feeds https://getstream.io/activity-feeds/, and AI Moderation https://getstream.io/moderation/ for more than 1 billion end users across 4,000+ apps, from Strava and Bumble to eBay and Patreon. Our platform processes billions of API requests per month and supports applications with millions of concurrent users, while delivering highly reliable, low-latency services and a great developer experience. THE ROLE We’re looking for Staff Software Engineers. You’ll join our Chat or Activity Feeds team and own backend systems that thousands of developers build their products on, from how they’re structured to how they scale. This is a full-time role based in our Amsterdam (visa & relocation support possible), Toronto, or Skopje office. We are also open to hiring the right person remote from the EU. ABOUT YOU You’ve built backend systems at high scale and stayed long enough to live with your own decisions, good and bad. You care about how a system is structured, not only the next feature, and you can explain your trade-offs to the people who’ll live with them. Maybe you led a team for a few years and chose to go back to hands-on work. That’s welcome here: this is an individual contributor role, and you’ll write code and touch databases yourself. Our leads spend about 80% of their time hands-on too. You won’t enjoy it if you want to manage people, or if you’d rather stay away from infrastructure and database work. We’re also hiring Senior Engineers on these teams. If your experience fits Senior better than Staff, we’ll say so openly and talk it through with you. YOU HAVE • Extensive backend engineering experience, including technical leadership on systems in production. • Proficiency in Go, Python, or in another backend language plus the willingness to switch to Go. • Experience building features used by a large number of users, and scaling them as usage grows. • Strong experience with a relational database. We use PostgreSQL, but any relational database counts. • Hands-on experience with Redis or a similar in-memory data store. • Experience building public APIs or SDKs that other developers use. • Comfort with infrastructure and database work as part of your normal week, including Kubernetes. • Good written and spoken English. It’s our working language. BONUS POINTS • PostgreSQL in production at scale, including sharding, partitioning or large migrations. • Experience improving or redesigning legacy parts of a system that’s serving live traffic. • Go and gRPC in production at high request rates. • Messaging, feeds or other real-time systems, or message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka. • Distributed storage internals, such as Raft or RocksDB. • You’ve cut infrastructure cost at a company where margins mattered. • Experience running workloads on GCP or AWS. Don’t worry if you haven’t used every tool we run. You’ll get exposure to most of them, and you’re welcome to convince us to add your favorites. WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE EXCITING • Scale: more than 1 billion end users and billions of API requests a month go through the systems you’ll own. • Impact: cost per message and query latency show up directly in our margins and in the apps of customers like Strava and Patreon. • Stack: Go, gRPC, RocksDB and Python; PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ; GCP and Kubernetes; Grafana, Prometheus, ELK (Elasticsearch and Kibana), Jaeger and Tempo for distributed tracing, and Datadog; Redis, Valkey and Memcached. • Starting point: you’ll ship to production in your first weeks and own a meaningful area within your first months. WHAT WE OFFER • Generous compensation • Stock options Amsterdam office benefits: • 28 days paid time off plus Dutch public holidays. • Pension plan with a company contribution. • NS Business Card or a company bike, covered by Stream. • EUR 500 per year for personal development. • Catered lunches in the office. • MacBook Pro. • Up to EUR 60 a month toward a gym or sports club membership of your choice. • Relocation support if you move to Amsterdam, including visa sponsorship as a recognised IND sponsor. Toronto, Skopje and remote EU: local benefits depending on your country of employment. WHY JOIN STREAM? We’re a Series B company with offices in Boulder, Amsterdam, Skopje and Toronto, and a team of 140+ people from 37 nationalities. We’re backed by Felicis Ventures, GGV Capital, 01 Advisors, Techstars, and Arthur Ventures, with angels including Dick Costolo (ex-CEO of Twitter), Olivier Pomel (CEO of Datadog), Tom Preston-Werner (co-founder of GitHub), and Nicolas Dessaigne (co-founder of Algolia). We’ll be straight with you: a startup is more demanding than a large company. There’s no fixed playbook, you’ll own things end to end, and you’ll sometimes pick up work outside your title. …

Snr. Marketing Manager, Enterprise ABM - EMEA

Remote
A

Hi, I’m Harriet, Ashby ’s VP Marketing. I joined Ashby in August 2022 to lead the Marketing function. My career journey has been anything but linear starting out as a yoga teacher, working as an M&A lawyer, before finding my happy place in marketing. This is a common theme across the team, and we love to see people who have built their skills both inside and outside the marketing discipline. Over the past ~4 years, we’ve gone from a stealth brand to the default operating system for over 5,000 of the most ambitious companies in tech, finance, and healthcare. On this journey, we’ve also amassed a marketing team of ~30 folks from across North America and Europe who are some of the brightest and most humble humans that want to ‘win’, and have fun doing so. Our culture is focused on creating a space to do lots of career-defining work with the tools, people, and focus that means minimal thrash and lots of autonomy. You can learn a little more about how we work here and why our investors are excited about us here . For this role, we are looking for someone to lead demand generation for our enterprise segment in Europe. You will have a fantastic thought partner and US counterpart, Ben , as well as the autonomy to rethink and define the strategy and execution to fit the nuances of the different European markets. It’s ABM but not in its traditional form: we’re seeking a first-principles thinker who prioritizes meaningful engagement over generic tactics / outdated playbooks (for example, prioritizing a few key impactful moments of engagement over running a laundry list of generic tactics across digital channels). If working with both the sales and marketing team to find and convert enterprise pipeline in a low ego, highly ambitious environment appeals, we’d love to hear from you! What you’ll be responsible for in this role • Partner with Ben to define our EMEA Enterprise ABM strategy and the channels we bet on with consideration to broader global strategy and nuances of respective European markets. Here you play the critical role of orchestrator, pulling together all of the relevant marketing channels to support a delightful discovery and prospect journey and are the point person for your counterparts in Sales. • Research and build prospect journey maps for target accounts, and develop the messaging, content, and creative that bring them to life, with support from our PMM, content, and creative teams. • Work with sales and revenue operations to build target account lists that combine data signals with rep input, and own the methodology behind them — how cohorts are built, what assumptions they rest on, and how we measure whether accounts are actually moving. • Manage our agency partners, including our gifting agency, Wildcard, to get campaigns executed well and fast. • Execute on the strategy you define which will include activities like working with your events counterpart on the coordination of dinners, activations , ancillary conference events, and stunts. • Apply our experimentation framework to run short sprints, learn quickly what works, and localise content, creative, and campaign strategy for EMEA markets. You will probably love this role if: • You enjoy combining data and creative thinking — and you have taste. You can tell the difference between messaging that's genuinely compelling and messaging that's generic or cheesy. • You're prospect-obsessed. You can step into the seat of the personas you're marketing to and build campaigns that meet them where they are, at the right time, with the right message. • You are deeply curious and not afraid to break from traditional ABM playbooks. • You build trust across functions. Sales managers and reps are excited to work with you, and the marketing team is fully bought into your campaign ideas and asks. • You understand (and leverage) the massive advantage AI creates but not so pilled that you let efficiency gains undercut creativity and taste. This role is not for you if: • You'd rely solely on 6sense (or equivalent) as your only source of truth. • You're strong on one half of the job but not the other. You need to move comfortably between building and interpreting dashboards, and writing compelling copy and developing creative with our gifting agency and creative teams. • You lean heavily on existing playbooks and tactics rather than stepping back and thinking from first principles. A lot of how we market at Ashby is deliberately different; curiosity and adaptability are critical. • You aren't able to operate with autonomy and run strategies end-to-end. We give clear ownership and trust you with it; you should be proactive and resourceful. • You believe that EMEA is one homogeneous market Interview Plan At Ashby, our team and interview process want to help you show your best self. …

There’s no PM to define everything first. Bonus: experience with localization or TMS integrations, brand or marketing tooling, or adtech. Location This role is remote-first, so it can be executed from anywhere between the US East Coast and Europe, with the ability to operate in European timezones required and flexibility for customer timezones when deals need it. Lead Identity & Access Management Specialist

Remote ✓
W

Wrike is the most powerful work management platform. Built for teams and organizations looking to collaborate, create, and exceed every day, Wrike brings everyone and all work into a single place to remove complexity, increase productivity, and free people up to focus on their most purposeful work. Wrike is our people, not a place. As a distributed team, we own our growth, stay globally connected, and rely on the product we build to deliver impactful work alongside brilliant minds. You'll have real ownership over meaningful work, a global team that has your back, and the flexibility to do your best work your way. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Our vision: A world where everyone is free to focus on their most purposeful work, together. About the Role: With flexible, distributed-first ways of working, you'll have the support to do your best work, wherever you are. As the Lead Identity & Access Management Specialist you will be the primary architect and team leader driving our cloud application security posture. Your mission is to balance business agility with absolute data protection across our sprawling SaaS ecosystem (including M365, Slack, Salesforce, etc). In this role, you will bridge the gap between user enablement and risk management by owning Identity and Access Management (IAM), deploying SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) tools to prevent configuration drift, and governing the entire lifecycle of our business applications. Crucially, you will lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of IT engineers with a strong security mindset, fostering a collaborative culture rooted in automation and proactive risk reduction. Your Impact: • By building and automating robust Identity pipelines: You will design, configure, and maintain our Identity Providers (IdP) using SAML 2.0, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0. You will leverage SCIM to automate provisioning and ensure immediate, airtight offboarding to prevent orphan accounts. • By hardening our SaaS posture against configuration drift: You will deploy and manage SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) tools. You will establish and enforce security baselines (such as CIS benchmarks) across our key tools, catching unauthorized administrative changes in real time. • By governing the security of third-party integrations: You will audit, restrict, and manage OAuth permissions granted to third-party add-ons and AI extensions, ensuring our enterprise data remains inside approved boundaries. • By mitigating Shadow IT and assessing third-party risk (TPRM): You will analyze CASB, proxy, and endpoint logs to discover unauthorized SaaS usage. You will partner with Procurement to assess the security profiles of new software vendors by auditing SOC 2 reports, ISO certifications, and CAIQ sheets. • By championing technical leadership and team growth : You will build, mentor, and guide a dedicated team of IT professionals. ABOUT US Ruby Labs is a leading tech company that creates and operates innovative consumer products. We offer a diverse range of opportunities across the health, education, and entertainment industries. Our innovative teams are driving the future of consumer-led products, and we're always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/ ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to own and scale the AI layer of one of our core D2C subscription products. You will be fully responsible for production LLM features and the browser automation built around them end to end — prompt systems, structured outputs, evaluation, observability, and model selection — from first experiment to live release, with quality, reliability, and cost as your accountability. This is a high-impact role suited for someone who decides with data, not intuition. Unmeasured prompt changes, untraced failures, and model swaps without benchmarks are not acceptable. You work in a modern TypeScript stack — Next.js, Cloudflare Workers and Containers with Hono, Hatchet task queues, Drizzle on Supabase Postgres, Vercel Blob. Browser automation on Browserbase and Playwright is roughly half of the job. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PROMPT SYSTEMS & STRUCTURED OUTPUTS • Design dynamic prompt templates with conditional logic and context injection that maximise generation quality • Enforce predictable outputs with JSON mode, function calling, Zod/JSON schemas, validators, and repair loops • Own complex LLM workflows (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom) that integrate cleanly into application logic BROWSER AUTOMATION • Build and maintain browser automation on Browserbase Functions and Playwright that traverses web flows reliably • Classify screens with a model inside each traversal, and decide what the model handles versus deterministic code • Ship automations as frozen, published workers — versioned, reproducible, and safe to roll back • Orchestrate runs through Hatchet with retries, timeouts, and failure traces that explain every broken run EVALUATION & EXPERIMENTATION • Build evaluation pipelines — test datasets, LLM-as-a-judge, RAGAS-style metrics — and score responses and screen classifications in Langfuse • Trace complex LLM chains to find bottlenecks in cost, latency, and context-window usage • Run A/B experiments across models and prompts through an AI gateway (OpenRouter, Cloudflare AI Gateway); release only on quantitative benchmarks • Re-evaluate models as new architectures emerge; fine-tune when domain requirements demand it PRODUCTION OWNERSHIP • Take AI features from experiment to live production on Cloudflare Workers and Containers, and stay accountable after release • Manage rate limits, fallbacks, and model cost so features stay reliable at scale • Resolve production incidents in owned AI and automation systems with documented root-cause analysis QUALIFICATIONS MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE • 【5+】 years of software engineering with Node.js, TypeScript, Next.js, and Postgres, including edge or serverless runtimes such as Cloudflare Workers • Production browser automation with Playwright (Browserbase or similar): resilient selectors, retries, failure handling at scale • Production experience with dynamic prompting — content that depends on input variables and injected context • Structured outputs in production: JSON mode, function calling, Zod/JSON schemas • Experience with unified LLM APIs or AI gateways (OpenRouter, Cloudflare AI Gateway): rate limits, fallbacks, cost-effective model selection • LLM observability with Langfuse or similar: tracing, test datasets, scoring integration • Evaluation methodology: RAGAS or custom LLM-as-a-judge systems LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES • Decides on benchmarks and trace data, not intuition • Analytical — converts generation logs into metrics a business can act on • Iterative — builds feedback loops and improves continuously • Owns the outcome from experiment to production, and after • Verifies before trusting — treats LLM output as unproven until validated LOCATION Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours. BENEFITS Discover the perks of being part of our vibrant team! We offer: • Remote Work Environment: Embrace the freedom to work from anywhere, anytime, promoting a healthy work-life balance. • Unlimited PTO: Enjoy unlimited paid time off to recharge and prioritize your well-being, without counting days. • Paid National Holidays: Celebrate and relax on national holidays with paid time off to unwind and recharge. • Company-provided MacBook: Experience seamless productivity with top-notch Apple MacBooks provided to all employees …
