The Mission At contentpass, we are on a mission to save independent journalism and the free web. We believe that privacy is a fundamental right and that quality content deserves to be paid for without selling user data. Our "Pur-Model" enables over 700 publishers to offer their readers a choice: consent to tracking or browse completely ad- and tracking-free for a small monthly fee. Your Role: The Heart of the Product At contentpass, we often say that "the OIDC is the product, and the rest is glue." Our OIDC service is the central nervous system of our entire operation. It doesn't just handle logins; it manages the state of every single user interaction, subscription, and access right across hundreds of websites. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who wants to take ownership of this core infrastructure. You won’t just be maintaining a library; you will be architecting the future of how users interact with the paid web. We have a massive roadmap ahead, and you will be the one building the bridge to the next generation of contentpass. What you’ll do • Architect & Scale: Lead the development and scaling of our central OIDC provider. • OIDC Federation: Implement and manage integrations with other OIDCs and Social Logins, allowing for a seamless "login once, browse everywhere" experience. • Extend Subscription Logic: Design and implement complex subscription mapping and entitlement logic that goes far beyond simple "active/inactive" states. • Single-Article Payments: Build the foundation for granular payment models. • Security & Privacy by Design: Ensure that our identity service remains a fortress for user data, strictly adhering to GDPR and the highest security standards. • Collaborate: Work closely with our SDK and Frontend teams to ensure the "glue" connects perfectly to your core service. Your profile • Deep OIDC/OAuth2 Expertise: You don’t just use libraries; you understand the underlying protocols, flows (Authorization Code, PKCE, etc.), and security implications. • Backend Mastery: You are a seasoned developer, ideally with strong experience in TypeScript/Node.js . • Identity Experience: You have worked with Identity Providers (IdPs) like Ory Hydra, Keycloak, or Auth0, or have built custom identity solutions from scratch. • Product Mindset: You understand that technical decisions impact the business. You enjoy thinking about how "Identity" can enable new features like micro-payments. • Security First: You have a "security-by-default" mindset and experience with JWTs, encryption, and token management. • Language: Fluency in English (German is a plus, but not required). Ihre Aufgaben Du arbeitest direkt mit unserem CEO und sorgst dafür, dass unsere Publisher-Gewinnung Struktur, Tempo und gutes Material bekommt. Es ist die Schnittstelle aus Recherche, Vertriebsunterstützung, Kommunikation und Prozessen, an der du siehst, wie ein B2B-Geschäft wirklich wächst. Vieles davon baust du zum ersten Mal auf. Was du machst • Zielgruppen finden: Du recherchierst, welche Publisher, Verticals und Branchen wir als Nächstes ansprechen sollten, und baust daraus Ziellisten, die im Vertrieb direkt nutzbar sind. Was in einer Branche funktioniert hat, überträgst du auf die nächste. • Outreach schärfen: Du entwickelst und testest Ansprache, Argumente und Abläufe, misst, was ankommt, und verbesserst es. • Material bauen: Du erstellst Sales-Unterlagen, One-Pager und Präsentationen, die Publisher überzeugen, und hilfst, unsere Website und vor allem die Publisher-Landingpage besser zu machen. • Prozesse verstehen und automatisieren: Du begleitest den Weg vom ersten Gespräch bis zum unterschriebenen Vertrag, erkennst Reibung und automatisierst Schritte. Ob No-Code-Tools, KI-Workflows oder Vibe Coding: Unser Team arbeitet täglich damit und hat dafür eigene Best Practices entwickelt. Du lernst sie direkt von den Leuten, die sie entwickelt haben. • Gemeinsam weiterdenken: Du hinterfragst bestehende Wege und schlägst vor, wie wir sie verändern und setzt deine Ideen zusammen mit dem Team um. Ihr Profil • Studium: Du bist eingeschrieben und stehst kurz vor deinem Bachelor-Abschluss oder am Anfang deines Masters, zum Beispiel in BWL, Medien, Kommunikation, Entrepreneurship, Produktmanagement oder Ähnlichem. • Geschäftsverständnis: Du verstehst, wie Produkt, Vertrieb und Marketing zusammenhängen, und denkst in Zielgruppen, Argumenten und Ergebnissen. • Kommunikation: Du schreibst klar und auf den Punkt und kannst ein Argument so aufbauen, dass es überzeugt, in E-Mails, Präsentationen und im Gespräch. • KI als Werkzeug: Du nutzt Tools wie Claude oder ChatGPT selbstverständlich, probierst Neues aus und baust dir kleine Automatisierungen, wenn sie dir Arbeit sparen. • Eigeninitiative: Du wartest nicht auf Aufgaben, sondern erkennst, was fehlt, und gehst es an. Feedback und Steuerung nimmst du gern an, weil du lernen willst. • Sprache: Sehr gutes Deutsch und Englisch in Wort und Schrift. Wir arbeiten mit Publishern in ganz Europa, der deutschsprachige Markt ist bisher unser größter, und im Team kommunizieren wir auf Englisch. • Nice-to-have: Ein Gespür für Publisher, Content und das Web. Erste Erfahrung mit Vertrieb, Outreach oder Websites. Etwas Coding (HTML, kleine Skripte) hilft, ist aber kein Muss. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of our SDK - the core component integrated into partner websites. This SDK manages communication with CMPs (Consent Management Platforms) and our stack, ensuring privacy compliance, performance, and reliability at scale. You’ll be responsible for evolving the SDK into a high-performance, secure, and extensible framework that can: • Integrate with additional CMPs • Unlock access to premium content models • Potentially detect and block 3rd-party requests, ads, and trackers This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of web performance, browser internals, and privacy technology - someone who takes pride in writing elegant, efficient, and secure TypeScript code. What You'll Do • Own the design, development, and evolution of our web SDK used across publisher integrations. • Ensure high performance, reliability and scalability for billions of monthly impressions. • Work closely with the whole engineering and product teams to extend SDK functionality for new CMPs and features. • Debug complex browser and integration issues across different environments. • Champion best practices for security, maintainability and developer experience. • Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineers and stakeholders to ship improvements quickly. Your profile Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. • Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web APIs. • Strong experience debugging in complex, cross-browser environments. • Solid understanding of browser networking, cookies, privacy and security mechanisms. • Experience building SDKs, libraries or embeddable scripts at scale. • Excellent communication skills and ownership mindset - you ship and iterate fast. • You care about understanding how things work and improving them, not just completing tasks. • Strong English communication skills in written and verbal communication - you thrive in explaining technical challenges to your peers.
