An Introduction to Primer Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments. We give finance and payments teams the visibility and control to reduce complexity, improve performance, and capture more revenue - all from a single platform. Backed by Sofina, Peak XV Partners, ICONIQ, Tencent, Accel, and Balderton, we're building the payments layer the world's best companies rely on. Watch our showcase > https://primer.io/the-primer-showcase Read up on our $100m Series C https://www.primer.io/blog/series-c Learn more about our culture > https://primer.io/careers Which team will you be joining? You're joining our Product Marketing team that owns product positioning, launch strategy, and market adoption for Primer's core product lines. We operate as strategic partners embedded in each major domain, working alongside Product and Sales leadership to define how our products win in market. Our PMMs own end-to-end strategy and execution for a significant product area, which means your work gets seen, shaped, and acted on by senior leadership from day one. You'll report to our Product Marketing Lead and work directly with product leads, marketing leads and senior stakeholders across the business. What will you be doing? Core Focus: This is an individual contributor (IC) role providing end-to-end product marketing support for our newly built Partners team. This role needs attention to detail, creativity, and boldness to build out the product's market presence. • Own the Partner marketing engine: Driving go-to-market launches from strategy to execution, collaborating closely with the broader marketing team. • Work with Partner PMs and Commercial Teams to define target audiences and craft clear, compelling messaging and positioning that differentiates Primer's Partner capabilities in the market. • Translate technical products into messaging that lands with both partners and the merchants who benefit from them. • Synthesise partner and merchant feedback, sales signals, and market research into a coherent strategic perspective that shapes both messaging and GTM approach. • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of product marketing initiatives, using data to optimise strategies and achieve business goals. What we're looking for: Must-haves: • 4+ years of B2B SaaS marketing or product marketing experience, , with a track record of launching and growing successful B2B products. • Comfort turning technical product detail into messaging a non-technical buyer or partner wants to read. • Ability to conduct targeted competitive and buyer research and turn it into specific recommendations. • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Experiment-minded, taking full ownership of outcomes and driving work with minimal oversight. Nice-to-haves: • Background in payments, fintech, or infrastructure products (or willingness to build that domain knowledge quickly) • Creative judgment - you can brief teams and agencies authoritatively and push for sharper, more unexpected ideas • Experience marketing in a two-sided marketplace, balancing distinct value propositions for supply-side and demand-side audiences Why you may not like it here: • We move fast. A Tier 1 launch plan that takes months to build is too slow. You'll be making calls on strategy, sequencing, and messaging trade-offs on tighter timelines. • All roles at Primer involve hands-on execution to drive maximum impact. If you want to set direction and hand off delivery to someone else, this might not be the fit. • You'll work alongside sharp, opinionated stakeholders in sales and product who will pressure-test your ideas. The best PMMs here treat that pushback as a chance to sharpen their thinking with data, not as a hurdle to clear before moving on. A TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner • An interview with the Hiring Manager • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role • A final, values-alignment interview WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT PRIMER? We're building a culture where people can do their best work and be proud of the impact they have. You'll be working with people who are mission-driven, smart, and reflective, and who are genuinely invested in building exceptional products and delivering success for our merchants. We work remotely, and have done since day one. We believe that building a successful, profitable company goes beyond proximity. We invest in our relationships through great remote working practices and thoughtfully designed face-to-face time, including workations, our annual company retreat, and access to co-working spaces across most major cities. The work is challenging. Scaleups are a challenge, and building category-defining products is a challenge. But there's a meaningful difference between a challenge and a struggle. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Must-haves: • 2-3 years of B2B SaaS marketing or product marketing experience, having owned go-to-market launches end to end. • Comfort turning technical product detail into messaging that actually lands with a technical buyer or partner, not just a simplified summary • A skilled communicator with expertise in writing, storytelling, and creating engaging content across multiple channels and formats • A motivated team player who is humble, ambitious, and eager to drive impact - someone who wants ownership over their work rather than executing a brief Nice-to-haves: • Background in payments (a big plus!), fintech or a marketplace with deep understanding on how the industry works • Experience marketing a two-sided marketplace, balancing supply-side and demand-side value props YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT HERE • You'll be building infrastructure as much as writing copy, so there's no established process to lean on yet • The roadmap is still forming, so your priorities may shift as things evolve • This role blends strategy and execution, so you'll want to be comfortable doing both • It's a highly collaborative role, so it suits someone who enjoys working closely across teams rather than independently A TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner • An interview with the Hiring Manager • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role • A final, values-alignment interview WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT PRIMER? You'll join Infrastructure, the team that owns the platform every other Primer engineer builds and ships on. CI/CD, deployment, internal tooling, ephemeral environments: if it's how code gets from a laptop to production safely, it's ours. We operate the way the rest of Primer does. Remote-first, async, high autonomy, low bureaucracy. You build it, you own it, and that includes running it in production. You'll report to the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Data and work alongside a small group of senior infrastructure engineers. What makes this interesting right now is the human-AI development loop. Coding agents are changing how software gets built, and we want someone to own how that actually works at Primer rather than bolting it on. That part of the role is yours to define. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? • Own Primer's internal developer platform end to end: the CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows (canary, blue/green), self-service tooling and ephemeral environments that every engineer here depends on to ship. • Build the human-AI development loop. This is the most open part of the role: the tooling and automation that let engineers work effectively alongside coding agents, and the patterns that make agent-driven workflows fast and safe at Primer. • Treat developer productivity as a measurable system. Instrument it, find where delivery actually slows down, and ship the changes that fix it instead of guessing. • Take real operational ownership. You'll join the Core Infrastructure on-call rotation and own the reliability of what you build. • Set the technical direction for how Primer's engineers build and ship, and bring less experienced engineers along with you as you do it. • Improve how engineers write code, not just how they ship it. Partner with product teams to make the tools, frameworks and internal APIs they use everyday more ergonomic, and help reduce the friction of building features at Primer. • Build Primers paved roads. Reduce the application boilerplate engineers write, shape standards around how services are built and configured, and own the golden-path tooling that lifts efficiency across every team. • Work in the open across a fully distributed team, making your decisions and trade-offs visible rather than holding them in your head. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • Strong cloud infrastructure experience. AWS is preferred; we'll also consider strong GCP backgrounds. • Hands-on Kubernetes experience. • Infrastructure-as-code as a working tool, not a buzzword. Terraform is preferred, but Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible or similar are fine. Not having Terraform specifically is not a blocker. • CI/CD as a core competency. You've owned the build, test and deploy workflow and preview environments, not just used them. • A history of measuring and improving delivery, using DORA, SPACE or a similar framework to back the work up. • Comfortable owning production systems and being part of an on-call rotation. • A genuine software engineering background. You've built and maintained applications or products, not just infrastructure tooling. • You can reason about what makes code pleasant to work with. This is what lets you build AI and developer tooling that engineers actually want to use. • An async-first communicator who works well in a remote, distributed team. Nice to have: • Hands-on experience building with AI or agent tooling, or working directly with LLM-based development workflows. This field is new, so real curiosity counts alongside real experience. • Familiarity with MCP servers and agent integration patterns. • Payments, fintech or other regulated-industry experience. YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT HERE • We're remote-first and async-first. Nobody is looking over your shoulder, and nobody is going to hand you tightly scoped tasks. You own your work from problem to production. • This role carries real operational weight. You're on call for what you build, and when something breaks at an awkward hour, that's yours too. • The AI-enablement side of this is genuinely undefined. There's no playbook yet. If you want a clear, settled remit, this isn't it. If you want to write one, it is. • Pace and ambiguity are constant. Priorities shift as we learn, and you'll often be making calls without complete information. A TYPICAL …

The merchant experience is only as good as the platform behind it. In the Account Experience team we build and own the full platform that merchants use to interact with Primer, from initial setup through to day-to-day operations, and increasingly through Primer AI Companion as a first-class interface. The team covers Primer Companion, Merchant Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, Auditing, and the cross-cutting platform concerns that keep the merchant experience cohesive and consistent. What will you be doing? • Own frontend projects end-to-end — from scoping through to production — across Account Experience's payment surfaces, checkout components, and merchant-facing tooling. • Lead architectural decisions on the frontend systems you work on, contributing to design sessions and producing RFCs and ADRs with minimal reliance on more senior engineers. • Build UI that is composable, performant, and adaptable. • Monitor the impact of your work in production, use metrics and dashboards to catch issues proactively, and take full ownership when things need to be fixed. • Hold a high quality bar for your own code and raise concerns when you see things in the codebase that don't meet it. • Contribute to incident response when it matters — taking the lead, driving to resolution, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout. • Share knowledge actively and help raise the quality and confidence of the engineers around you. What we'd love to see • Solid frontend engineering experience, with a track record of independently delivering production-grade work across the full lifecycle. • Extensive experience with Typescript and ideally web components. • Comfortable taking on a project, scoping it, planning the architecture, and seeing it through without needing to be directed at each stage. • Strong understanding of how to build accessible, performant, maintainable UI at scale — ideally in a context where quality directly affects end users or downstream integrations. • Able to contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions and articulate trade-offs clearly. • Writes clean, well-tested code that peers would consider high quality — and holds yourself to that standard consistently. • Understands the user and business context behind the work, not just the technical brief. • Communicates clearly and directly, especially in async-first environments. You'll be joining the Growth team, which owns merchant onboarding and activation: everything between a new account and a first live payment. It's a newly formed team taking on a new product area for Primer, so there's a lot of scope to shape both what we build and how. Primer is remote-first and globally distributed — always will be. What will you be doing? • Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for the self-serve onboarding and platform experience, with real ownership over how it's built, not just what gets shipped • You’ll spend roughly 80% of your hands-on codebase time on frontend and 20% on backend. That split is a guide, not a rule, and it will shift in either direction depending on what we're focused on at the time. • Partner closely with Design to take onboarding and platform experience from concept to production, shaping the details that decide whether a merchant's first steps with Primer feels effortless or frustrating • Mentor and raise the bar for the engineers who join the team, you're the person newer engineers learn frontend craft from • Set frontend conventions and quality standards for a team that's still being built — architecture reviews, code quality, testing approach, all early enough that your calls stick • Contribute to the Python backend where it's needed to unblock frontend work or ship a feature end to end, without needing deep backend expertise going in What we're looking for • Strong, proven frontend expertise — production experience architecting and building complex frontend applications, not just consuming a design system • Comfortable being the most senior frontend voice in the room, including pushing back on design or product where the frontend reality demands it • Some backend experience and a genuine willingness to work in a Python codebase — depth isn't required, but you shouldn't be reluctant to touch it • Experience mentoring other engineers, ideally including people earlier in their career than you Nice to have, not required: • Experience building or integrating payment products • Experience in a growth, onboarding, or activation-focused product surface What you should be aware of: • The team is still forming, so you're inheriting mentoring responsibility for people who haven't been hired yet — the "who" of who you're mentoring is still unknown • Remote-first, high autonomy, no hand-holding — you're expected to set your own standards, not follow someone else's playbook • Early-stage team means some ambiguity on process and tooling that a more established team would already have solved A TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner • An interview with the Hiring Manager • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role • A final, values-alignment interview WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT PRIMER? Senior ML Engineer

Remote ✓EN
P

You'll be our first Senior Engineer in ML, working alongside our Staff Engineer to help build the foundations from the ground up. There's no existing DS/ML team yet, so the two of you will shape it together, working closely with engineering, data, and product, who are already exploring how ML can be used in payments. There's a lot still to figure out and a lot to build. You'll work closely with your team's stakeholders to identify where ML can move the needle, and report to engineering leadership while that function takes shape. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? • Own the full lifecycle of ML-powered features within your initiatives - from independently researching and testing approaches through training, deployment and monitoring in production • Productionise smart routing decisions across the payment flow, building the ML infrastructure around them as you go - versioning, CI/CD, observability • Partner closely with product, data and engineering to turn promising use cases into shipped, measured outcomes • Bring a pragmatic, impact-first mindset to experimentation and model evaluation, rather than chasing the most sophisticated approach • Mentor other engineers as they pick up ML techniques, sharing how you think about tradeoffs and when to keep things simple • Talk directly to customers to validate ideas and pressure-test what you're building against real usage • Help set technical direction within your area, working with your team to prioritise the use cases worth pursuing • Establish patterns and practices that make ML work reliable and repeatable at Primer, building on foundations rather than defining them alone WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • Senior experience in ML engineering, data science, or applied research, with real production deployments behind you (API, batch, or streaming) • You think statistically. You can design and run experiments and A/B tests, and report what the results do and don't show • Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras • Solid grounding in modern software engineering, infrastructure and data tooling, and an understanding of the MLOps challenges across the full ML lifecycle. You don't need to have built a platform, but you know what one has to handle • Familiarity with reinforcement learning (multi-armed or contextual bandits, for example). Production experience with it isn't required, but you need to understand how it works and where it applies • Cloud experience — AWS preferred; GCP or Azure both fine • Exposure to payments or e-commerce is a plus, not a prerequisite - you'll build that domain depth on the job • Comfortable with ambiguity, in the problems and in the process. You can research, develop and productionise independently, and you'll help define how we work as you go YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT HERE • You enjoy working in an office setting — we're remote-first, and always will be • You need a fully mapped-out roadmap before you start — we're building this function, and there is a lot yet to be defined. • You prefer handing models to another team to deploy and run. You'll take ownership of a meaningful slice of our detection and response capability — tuning what our SIEM catches, building the automation that speeds up how we react, and being a first responder when something looks wrong. What you'll be doing • Plan and deliver detection and response work end-to-end — from a new detection rule to a fully automated response — within your area of ownership. • Build, tune and maintain detections across our SIEM (Elastic) and AWS environment, closing gaps that existing coverage misses. • Own an investigation queue: triage, investigate, escalate and resolve security incidents, and write up findings clearly enough to stand on their own. • Build runbooks and automations (Python, and no-code tools like Zapier or Tines) to cut manual work out of triage and response. • Make and document risk decisions in your area, and know when to pull in others. • Support our compliance programme by keeping the controls you own audit-ready and contributing evidence for audits (e.g. SOC 2, PCI DSS). • Use Terraform and Python to build and maintain the infrastructure behind your detections and tooling. • Join our on-call rotation for incident response and monitoring. What we're looking for • Hands-on experience building and tuning detections in a SIEM (Elastic preferred; Splunk, Sentinel or similar also welcome) • Experience with AWS and cloud-native detection and response • Comfortable with Python for scripting and automation • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code • Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK • Real experience triaging, investigating and resolving security incidents • Clear, structured written communication Nice to have • Experience with no-code security automation / SOAR-style tooling • Exposure to compliance frameworks like PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 • Background in fintech, payments or another regulated industry A TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner • An interview with the Hiring Manager • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role • A final, values-alignment interview WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT PRIMER? The merchant experience is only as good as the platform behind it — and most of that experience is the interface itself. The Account Experience team builds and owns the full platform merchants use to interact with Primer — from initial setup through to day-to-day operations, and increasingly through Primer AI Companion as a first-class interface. The team spans several connected areas: Primer Companion, Merchant Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, Auditing, and the cross-cutting concerns that keep the whole merchant experience cohesive. As Staff Engineer you'll set front-end technical direction across these areas, not within a single one. You'll work across 2-3 teams, partner with multiple stakeholders, and stay hands-on in the implementation that matters most. The team runs a 'you build it, you own it' model: engineers own their work from design through to production. The stack includes TypeScript, React, and modern front-end tooling, sitting on top of services in Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. What will you be doing? • Setting and driving front-end technical strategy across the Account Experience teams, from architecture and component-system decisions through to hands-on implementation where it counts • Owning the architecture of a complex, data-dense merchant platform — the patterns, state management, and performance characteristics that hold up as the surface area grows • Shaping how Primer AI Companion matures as a first-class merchant interface, including the front-end architecture that makes a conversational surface feel native to the platform • Holding the experience coherent across Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, and Auditing — building the shared component and design-system foundations that stop the areas drifting apart • Leading engineers across teams without direct authority, through code, design reviews, and technical mentorship that raises the front-end bar around you • Owning the things that are easy to neglect: accessibility, performance budgets, and front-end observability as first-class concerns, not afterthoughts • Partnering with Product and Design, and with backend engineers across teams, to shape decisions where front-end constraints or opportunities are material What We're Looking For • Demonstrable experience operating at staff or principal level: setting front-end technical direction across multiple teams, not just within one • Deep front-end engineering expertise with TypeScript and React, and a track record of architecting complex, long-lived web applications • Real fluency in the things that separate good front-end from great: state management at scale, performance, accessibility, and component-system design • The kind of judgment that earns trust fast — engineers follow your technical lead because you're right, not because of your title • Enough comfort across the stack to reason about the APIs and services your front-end depends on, and to partner with backend engineers as an equal • Strong written and verbal communication, including making complex technical decisions legible to Product, Design, and non-technical stakeholders • Comfort working in payments, fintech, or platform contexts is welcome, though depth of engineering matters more than the specific industry. You May Not Like It Here If • You prefer a defined lane — at Staff level you'll be expected to find and shape the work across several teams, not wait for it to be handed to you • You think of front-end as the layer that just renders what the backend sends — here it's a first-class engineering discipline with real architectural weight • You want a QA team to catch your bugs — we don't have one, and we don't plan to • Remote-first feels like a compromise to you — for us it's deliberate, and it demands real discipline and strong async habits A TYPICAL INTERVIEW PROCESS • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner • An interview with the Hiring Manager • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role • A final, values-alignment interview WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT PRIMER? You've worked in data-intensive environments and enjoy designing clean systems that move and transform data at scale. You’re someone who approaches data engineering as a software discipline — building reliable, tested, maintainable systems that empower others. You'll work on building internal tools, pipelines, and APIs that support analytics, product features, and machine learning applications. You'll collaborate closely with both product and engineering teams to make our data infrastructure seamless, efficient, and delightful to use.
