The challenge

The System Architect for Intelligent Building Management Solutions and Industrial Automation plays a crucial role in designing integrated automation solutions for both buildings and industrial processes. This position involves developing safe, efficient, and future-ready systems that connect various installations, such as HVAC, lighting, access control, gas safety, and industrial process control. You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and end-users to create innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the highest safety standards.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Gas safety and process safety: Develop solutions for gas detection, emergency shutdowns, ventilation integration, and fail-safe control systems for industrial environments.
  • Specification and standards management: Implement relevant standards for intelligent building management solutions, process automation, and safety systems, such as IEC 61511 (functional safety) and ATEX regulations.
  • Process optimization: Analyze and optimize industrial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
  • Stakeholder management: Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including clients, end-users, engineers, and project managers, ensuring solutions meet both functional and technical requirements.
  • Continuous learning and development: Stay updated on the latest innovations in smart technologies and automation, applying these to develop improved, future-proof solutions. • Technological consulting: Identify innovations to enhance performance and reliability in intelligent buildings and industrial environments.
  • Documentation and communication: Prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of intelligent building management solutions, gas safety systems, and industrial process control.
  • Expertise in communication standards and protocols such as KNX, BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, and PROFIBUS.
  • Proficiency in designing fail-safe systems and safety-critical applications.
  • Experience with IT networks and cybersecurity in automation environments.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility and the ability to continuously adapt to technological advancements.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly present complex technical issues

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in intelligent building management solutions, industrial automation, and safety-critical systems. This role combines technological innovation with safety-critical applications. As a System Architect, you will develop integrated solutions that maximize comfort, safety, efficiency, and sustainability in both buildings and industrial processes.

We offer

  • A position of 32-40 hours per week with a salary to match.
  • Challenging projects for leading clients in the Netherlands and internationally.
  • A work environment in which innovation and sustainability are put into practice daily.
  • Attention to your own development and vitality with ample training and development opportunities, bicycle and sports arrangements, flexible working hours, 33 vacation days and the possibility of purchasing additional days.
  • Hybrid working, where you have the opportunity to alternate between working from home and the office.
  • A team where cooperation and collegiality are priority, and where we interact informally.
  • Sustainability is in our genes. This is expressed, for example, in a mobility policy where health and sustainability are most important. Many of our offices are located near public transport hubs, cycling is encouraged, and your travel expenses are reimbursed 100% on the basis of public transport.
