Job description

Klarstein has been designing, producing, and selling products in the areas of kitchen appliances, garden & living, sports and consumer electronics since 2005 and is now one of Europe’s largest digital companies including over 400 employees around the globe.   We love brands and products!

Salary from 2800 €/gross month (depends on experience) (Hybrid)

As Staff Engineer / Tech Lead Azure/.NET, you'll own the technical direction of our .NET and Azure platforms - leading the design of scalable, cloud-native solutions across a landscape that spans .NET and PHP-based e-commerce systems. You'll split your time between hands-on architecture work and technical leadership: driving key engineering decisions, mentoring engineers, and pushing the modernization of our platforms forward. You'll work closely with Software Engineers, DevOps, QA, and Product, and your decisions will directly shape engineering excellence, reliability, and developer productivity at Klarstein.

What you will do:

  • Own the architecture and technical direction of critical services, leading the design and implementation of complex backend and cloud-native solutions.
  • Lead technical investigations, proof of concepts, and modernization/refactoring strategies — identifying technical debt and driving pragmatic long-term platform improvements.
  • Collaborate across .NET, PHP, DevOps, QA, Product, and external teams, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching.
  • Drive engineering excellence — best practices in testing, security, observability, and operational reliability, including incident/root-cause support and contributing to engineering standards and documentation.
  • Promote AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity and software quality.

What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years of professional backend development experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET Core, .NET 8/10, Entity Framework Core, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger), combined with a strong architectural mindset for designing scalable, resilient distributed systems.
  • Proven experience designing cloud-native systems on Microsoft Azure — including microservices, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and API-first design — with hands-on use of core Azure services (e.g. Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Functions, App Services, Key Vault, Application Insights).
  • Experience designing secure, cost-optimized cloud architectures (networking, identity/access management, application security), and building production systems with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), and observability practices.
  • Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MongoDB) and working across heterogeneous systems — integrating .NET services, PHP applications, and third-party/enterprise platforms (e.g. SAP, REST/SOAP APIs).
  • Track record mentoring engineers, leading technical reviews, and driving engineering standards across teams, ideally within Agile, cross-functional environments (Product, DevOps, QA, architects).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf) and using them to improve development, testing, and documentation workflows.
  • Deep grounding in clean architecture / domain-driven design principles.
  • Direct experience integrating with SAP or comparable large-scale enterprise platforms.

What we offer:

  • Team-building events – Get to know your colleagues beyond the workplace at our Family Day, and let loose at our Summer and Christmas parties. One thing is for sure: we know how to have fun!
  • Candy & Coffee Bar – Keep your energy up with complimentary sweets, fresh fruit, sparkling water, tea and coffee whenever you need a little pick-me-up.
  • 30% employee discount – Enjoy an exclusive 30% discount on products across our brands, including Klarstein, Capital Sports and Auna. From kitchen appliances and sound systems to fitness equipment and garden furniture, there’s something for everyone!
  • MultiSport card – Stay active your way with access to hundreds of gyms, swimming pools, sports and wellness centres, and classes such as yoga or dance across Slovakia.
  • Bonuses for special occasions – Life is about more than work, and we’re happy to celebrate your milestones with you. Enjoy special bonuses for important occasions, such as getting married or welcoming a new family member.
  • Sick days – Feeling under the weather? Take paid sick days to recover without using your annual leave.
  • Extra vacation days for long-term commitment – We appreciate your loyalty! Enjoy extra vacation days based on your years of service with us.
  • Slovnaft BAjk – Prefer cycling to work? We’ll contribute to your Slovnaft BAjk bike-sharing subscription, making your commute around Bratislava easier and …
