Our users are database administrators, SREs, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, cloud engineers, and developers who rely on PMM to monitor and optimize mission-critical database environments. We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys moving quickly, talking to customers, validating ideas early, and iterating rapidly. This is not a role where you'll spend months writing specifications before shipping. We value experimentation, pragmatism, and delivering customer value. What Will You Do • Own the product strategy and roadmap for PMM, ensuring it aligns with Percona's overall product vision. • Work directly with customers and the community to understand their challenges, validate ideas, and identify new product opportunities. • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to help shape product direction. • Translate customer problems into clear product requirements and priorities. • Work closely with Engineering, Design, Documentation, Marketing, and Customer Success to deliver outstanding product experiences. • Prioritize features and make informed trade-offs based on customer value, engineering effort, and strategic goals. • Define success metrics and use customer feedback, product telemetry, and usage data to guide product decisions. • Collaborate closely with engineering throughout the entire product lifecycle, from discovery to release. • Represent PMM internally and externally through blog posts, webinars, conferences, customer meetings, and community engagement. • Help drive the adoption of PMM across the open source community and enterprise organizations. What Will Make You Stand Out • Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, VictoriaMetrics, or similar platforms. • Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other data platforms. • Experience with Kubernetes, Linux, cloud-native technologies, and distributed systems. • Experience working with open source communities as an active contributor or community member. • Experience building products for developers, SREs, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, database administrators, or other highly technical users. • Experience defining AI-powered workflows, developer productivity tools, or AI-assisted observability experiences. • Experience working in startups or high-growth companies where rapid iteration, experimentation, and customer feedback drive product decisions. • Comfortable taking ownership and wearing multiple hats in a small, collaborative team. • Passion for open source and building products in close partnership with engineering and the community. Why Percona? At Percona, we believe an open world is a better world. Our mission is to enable everyone to innovate freely, by providing the best open source database software, support, and services. We make databases and applications run better through a unique combination of expertise and open source software built with the community for you. Sr. Software Engineer - Go/MongoDB (Remote)

Remote ✓
P

MongoDB Tools Team Team: MongoDB Tools (Product and Engineering) Location: Remote Projects: percona/percona-clustersync-mongodb https://github.com/percona/percona-clustersync-mongodb and percona/percona-backup-mongodb https://github.com/percona/percona-backup-mongodb ABOUT THE TEAM The MongoDB Tools Team builds Percona's open source operational tooling for MongoDB. Two projects sit at the center of what we do. Percona ClusterSync for MongoDB (PCSM) clones and continuously replicates data between clusters. Percona Backup for MongoDB (PBM) is a distributed, low-impact backup and restore solution for replica sets and sharded clusters. Both are written in Go, both are Apache 2.0 licensed, and both are built fully in the open. This role sits primarily on PCSM, which is younger and moving fast, so you will have real influence over how it takes shape. You will also work across into PBM. The two tools share many hard problems: cluster topology, the oplog and change streams, consistency across shards, and performance in very large production clusters. Backup and restore experience is a real advantage here, not just a box to tick. THE PROJECTS • PCSM (primary focus): initial data cloning followed by continuous change replication over MongoDB Change Streams, for both replica sets and sharded clusters. Still pre-1.0 and evolving quickly. • PBM (secondary): consistent backup and restore with point-in-time recovery, using oplog capture to stay consistent across replica sets and sharded clusters, with S3-compatible and filesystem storage. Driven by pbm-agent processes on each node and a pbm CLI. Mature and widely deployed in production. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON PRIMARY, ON PCSM • The core replication engine: initial collection cloning followed by continuous change capture over MongoDB Change Streams, with correct handling of resume tokens, ordering, and resumability after failures. • Correctness and fault tolerance at scale: recovering cleanly from network drops, primary elections, and restarts without losing or duplicating changes, and reasoning carefully about the delivery guarantees we can honestly promise. • Sharded cluster support: replicating across shards, dealing with the realities of chunk migrations and balancer activity, and keeping the target consistent. • Namespace filtering and automatic index management, plus the edge cases that show up with DDL, TTL, and index differences between source and target. • Performance and throughput: parallelizing the clone, applying backpressure, and keeping memory and connection use sane against large clusters with great change volume. • The CLI and HTTP API that drive and observe a sync, and the metrics and logging that let an operator trust what is happening. ALSO ACROSS PBM • Consistent backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery across replica sets and sharded clusters, using physical or logical type of the backup. • Backup storage: integrating reliably with main cloud object storage (S3, GCS, Azure Blob Storage...) and remote filesystems, and handling the throughput and failure modes that show up at scale. • The pbm-agent and pbm CLI, and the control-collection state in MongoDB that coordinates them across the cluster. SHARED ACROSS BOTH • Working in the open: pull requests, code review, JIRA, and the community forum. • Release quality: tests, packaging, and the CI and security scanning that gate every change. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE: • Strong Go experience in production, with real fluency in concurrency: goroutines, channels, context cancellation, worker pools, and backpressure. You have debugged a race condition that only showed up under load, and you know how you found it. • Solid grounding in distributed systems and data consistency. You can talk clearly about at-least-once versus exactly-once, idempotency, ordering, and what it takes to make a stateful process resumable. • Hands-on MongoDB knowledge: change streams, the oplog, resume tokens, replica sets, and sharding. You do not need to have built replication before, but you should understand why it is hard. • Comfort building and operating command-line tools and HTTP APIs, and instrumenting them with metrics and structured logs. • A habit of writing tests that catch real problems, and comfort working across a mixed toolchain. • Experience working in the open: Git and pull request workflows, giving and taking code review well, and communicating clearly in writing with contributors you have never met in person. NICE TO HAVE • Prior work on database internals, CDC pipelines, ETL, or data migration tooling. • Familiarity with the Prometheus style of metrics and observability. • Experience with golangci-lint, vulnerability scanning (for example Trivy), and deb and rpm packaging. • Background maintaining or contributing to an open source project with an external community. • Exposure to MongoDB sharded clusters at large scale, where …

Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) (remote work)

Remote ✓
C

CloudLinux / TuxCare is a remote-first infrastructure and security company. More than 300 engineers build and operate products used by hosting providers, enterprises, and internal service teams worldwide. Our Infrastructure Department runs the platforms behind CloudLinux OS, Imunify, KernelCare, TuxCare ELS, and our engineering systems. We are hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join the Infrastructure DBA cell. This is a hands-on production ownership role, not a narrow ticket-processing DBA position. You will keep critical database services reliable, automate repeated work, support engineering teams, and reduce single-person dependency in our PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis operations. PostgreSQL is the main requirement. ClickHouse experience is a strong plus, but it is not a day-one blocker. We need a senior engineer with enough database, Linux, automation, and incident-response depth to learn our ClickHouse environment quickly and operate it safely. Your Responsibilities: • Own production PostgreSQL reliability: HA design, Patroni, PgBouncer, replication, failover, upgrades, vacuum/bloat control, query tuning, locks, indexes, capacity, backups, PITR, and restore validation. • Improve disaster recovery and operational evidence: tested restores, documented recovery paths, measurable RTO/RPO targets, runbooks, and safe maintenance plans. • Support the wider database estate: ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis. You will troubleshoot incidents, review access and data-safety changes, improve monitoring, and learn the production ClickHouse patterns already in use. • Automate DBA workflows with Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD, scripts, and reproducible runbooks for provisioning, grants, backups, restores, health checks, and ownership metadata. • Help build DBaaS-style self-service capabilities so engineering teams can request databases, access, credentials, and operational checks with less manual DBA intervention. • Improve observability and incident response through Grafana, metrics, logs, SLOs, alert rules, Opsgenie routing, and clear communication during production issues. What Success Looks Like: • PostgreSQL clusters have tested backup and restore paths, useful dashboards, clear ownership, and documented failover procedures. • Repeated DBA tickets become automation or self-service workflows. • ClickHouse operational knowledge is no longer a single-person dependency. • Database incidents have owners, runbooks, evidence, and measurable recovery paths. • Product and engineering teams get database help faster without sacrificing safety, auditability, or reliability. Why CloudLinux? • You will work on real production infrastructure used across CloudLinux and TuxCare products. • You will have a direct impact on reliability, incident response, developer experience, and operational resilience. • You will also work in an AI-assisted engineering culture where automation, documentation, Claude, Codex, and careful human verification are part of the daily operating model. Requirements What We Expect From You: • Deep hands-on PostgreSQL experience in business-critical production environments, typically 5+ years or equivalent depth. • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals and operations: MVCC, WAL, transactions, locks, indexes, query planning, replication, autovacuum, bloat, major upgrades, backups, PITR, and restore testing. • Proven experience with highly available databases and the ability to reason about quorum, split-brain risk, failover, rollback, and recovery. • MongoDB replica sets and Percona Backup for MongoDB. • Strong Linux and infrastructure fundamentals: systemd, networking, storage, filesystems, CPU/memory/disk bottlenecks, TLS, DNS, firewalls, and root-cause troubleshooting. • Automation skills with Ansible and scripting. Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD, and merge-request based delivery are strong advantages. • Ability to support more than one database engine. You do not need to be a ClickHouse expert on day one, but you must be ready to learn it quickly and take responsibility for it. • Practical use of AI engineering assistants such as Claude and Codex. We expect you to use them to improve speed and quality, while personally verifying generated SQL, commands, scripts, and operational conclusions. • English - upper-intermediate or higher - to ensure clear communication of progress within the teams.
